With the help of her magic, Gwen created a small blue sphere of mana in front of the hole on the wall of the cottage. Then, when Alegon signaled her that everything was ready, she threw the ball against the opening, causing it to shatter and cover the entire area with blue mana dust. She then focused on controlling the dust and making sure it would remain in this place until the spell finished. As Alegon and Gwen retreated to the other side of the room, the girl began the chant to perform the ritual.

A minute later, the entire interior of the room had been filled by a light blue mist that seemed to become increasingly dense every second. Alegon, watching it closely, noticed how the mist gathered around the diamonds he had placed on the ground near the entrance. He had been concerned about being affected by the mana while performing this ritual, so he had prepared a protection ritual and the necessary materials with the help of Tinna, but now it turned out it wasn't necessary. He supposed that with his connection to mana and knowing exactly what was going to happen, his body simply didn’t react as badly to mana as it did the first time. He certainly could tell there was a lot of mana in this room, but he didn’t feel bad, which was what mattered most to him at the moment.

"It's done," Gwen announced after five minutes, and Alegon released a relieved breath before walking to the exit and beginning the process of leaving this space with a barrier protecting them from the outside. They didn’t have the luxury of testing whether or not it would work here. The amount of mana needed to make sure that everyone survived a successful attempt had been too much for Alegon, who didn't want to spend so long without mana just because of a little experiment, so they had to do things the old fashioned way. They had even spent an additional day to prepare the cottage properly with enchantments that would keep the magic inside the walls and floor.

When they finally reached the surface, Alegon wasted no time and immediately made the preparations to break the barrier. As soon as the last ingredient was put in place, Alegon and Gwen took distance from the house, with Gwen even jumping into the treetops to increase that distance. And when she felt the ritual end, she used a branch to launch herself backward, flying away and moving at high speed through the air with her wings behind her.

As they were afraid of a new ritual of consumption like what had happened during Alegon's ritual, they both prepared themselves. While Alegon had created a defensive barrier, Gwen prepared some mana-powered projectiles to help deal damage quickly and efficiently to anything that showed signs of attacking them, as her physical power was limited. But nothing like that happened.

As soon as the ritual finished, the earth rumbled as the ground sank into itself a few feet around the cottage.
